Alex Ennis

Alex enjoys a reputation as a versatile and talented musician. She graduated with Distinction from Trinity College of Music, London in 1995. Subsequently she worked as a freelance violinist and viola player in London and the South of England in orchestras and chamber ensembles, including concerts directed by Julian Bream, Jane Glover, John Lill, Stephen Isserlis, and the late Yehudi Menuhin.

In 1998 Alex went to teach in the West Indies, where she also coached the Antigua & Barbuda Philharmonic Orchestra and met her Jamaican husband Paul. Since returning to settle in Somerset, Alex has taught at Wellington School and Bridgwater College whilst developing her playing career in a variety of different ways - as the fiddle player with “Hobson’s Choice” barn dance band, as half of “Thalia” and as a performer with numerous Orchestras in the West Country including Orchestra West and Somerset Opera. She is also the leader of the Somerset County Orchestra.

Sarah Patten

Sarah completed her Graduate Diploma and Post Graduate Certificate in Performance at Trinity College of Music in 1994 where she studied with Gilbert Biberian. Her wide performing experience encompasses Solo, Chamber, Music Theatre and Orchestral Music including performances in the 1990s with the Britten Pears Orchestra, Royal Ballet School and Trinity Music Theatre Company.

Whilst at College Sarah co-founded the London Guitar Trio which went on to perform throughout Britain including Concerts at the Ludlow and Hebden Bridge Arts Festivals and Dillington Guitar Festival. Since relocating to Somerset in 1999, Sarah has continued to perform extensively with Alex in the Thalia Duo and Hobson's Choice whilst combining Music Arranging and Teaching Classical and Acoustic Guitar.
